Fly little butterfly

Monday, October 27, 2008

This past Saturday Ben's work had a "thank you" party for all hospital staff with a Halloween theme.  So we were able to get any early start on all of the festivities. Although Audra was excited about being a butterfly (she chose her costume herself this year) she was not thrilled about having her picture taken ... ah the many moods of a three year old girl!
Oh and FYI ... her wings CAN fly!

It's a girl monkey, See the bow?

I let Audra help me choose Phoebe's outfit this year and she decided that a monkey would be the "bestest".  Unfortunately because of her size and lack of hair Phoebe often gets mistaken for a boy even when she is wearing pink or flowers (seriously people who dresses their one year old boy in pink? I have never met a mom who would do this... but that is beside the point).  So to "head off" the inevitable I added a bow to Phoebe's costume.
What a cute little (girl) monkey!

Mini-family reunion in Iowa

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

This weekend we traveled to Iowa to attend a mini-family reunion with Ben's mom's side of the family.  The reunion was really a weekend long celebration of Aunt Leah's birthday.  We had a great time with the family and enjoyed staying at Suzanne's resort.
Thanks for a great weekend everyone (especially you Suzanne!!!!).

The Show must go on...in Indiana

Two weeks ago I traveled to Marion, IN in order to see my sister Rachel.  As a bonus we were able to coordinate the visit with a craft show and as a double bonus because of the show I left the girls home with Ben.  I missed them dearly but was able to enjoy a different kind of "girl time" that we usually are not able to have when the kids are underfoot.  We had a blast at the craft show and both did really well. I can't wait until we are able to do it again!

Help Mom there is a man in my soup!

While making soup the other day I found a "two - legged" carrot.  Thinking that I would surprise Audra I gave him so hair and put it in her bowl of soup.
On the contrary Audra surprised me by saying "Hey mom, there is a man in my soup.  Can I eat him?"  Then she proceeded in eating his legs but not it body because "that would be mean".

Here are just a few pictures from Phoebe's birthday party...
Phoebe and Audra enjoyed the "party favors"
Phoebe was really exhausted so we waited until the next day to open gifts.
Phoebe instructing Audra how to use her new radio
Phoebe loved her new books and had to take a little break to read a few of them
After we were done opening the gifts Phoebe was not quite done
(here is a picture of her signing more)
